Rev. Canon Perry Koon

The Rev. Canon Perry Koon is the Rector at Good Shepherd Anglican Church in Dripping Springs, Texas and a Canon Missioner in the Dioceses of the Western Gulf Coast under the leadership of Bishop Clark Lowenfield.  In addition to serving at Good Shepherd, Perry was a 5th grade reading teacher for 9 years. Fr. Perry began his ministry in 1987 in Arkansas while attending Harding University and earning a BA in Bible and Religion.  He went on to earn a masters degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Abilene Christian University in 1993. After many years serving in nondenominational churches in Arkansas, Indiana and Texas, Perry attended the Anglican School for Ministry and was ordained in the Anglican Church in 2008 with the Anglican Mission in America (AMiA).  Fr. Perry has been involved with six church plants in the Austin area over the last 22 years.

Perry was born in Guam and raised in South Mississippi where he married Wendey (born and raised in Ohio) in 1979 and finally, by God’s grace, made it to Austin, Texas in 1996.  They have two wonderful daughters (Tabitha and Abbey) and two fabulous, crazy grand daughters (Mallory and Chloe) and Zander, their grandson.  Wendey and Perry enjoy laughing and spending time with family and friends and listening to live music in Austin.  If the truth be told, Perry would rather be fishing on the gulf coast (Texas or Mississippi) than about anything else.  He also enjoys reading books on theology, spiritual formation, church planting, culture, young adult fiction and nonfiction as well riding his mountain bike on the trails in South Austin.

Rev. Canon John Tucker

Canon John was born and raised in Austin and considers it a joy and a privilege to call it home. John was ordained to the priesthood in February of 2018, and comes to Good Shepherd after previously serving at HopePointe, the Cathedral Church of the Diocese of the Western Gulf Coast, in the Woodlands, TX. John served as the Associate Senior Pastor of the Cathedral and had different ministry responsibilities including Family Ministry, Discipleship, and helping form Sunday Services.

John also currently serves as the Canon for Ministry Formation and Leadership Development in the Diocese of the Western Gulf Coast, where he assists the Bishop in overseeing, discipling, and equipping those discerning a call to ordained ministry.

John teaches Medieval History and European Literature at Regents School of Austin during the week and is happy to be back home in Austin serving at Good Shepherd after years away. You can find him around town with his lab Augie.

Rev. David Duncan
